Sample questions with answers

What is the current I Belong course focus?

The 100-hour Cultural Orientation course. Cultural Orientation is the programme’s focus from 15 June 2026. Earlier Stage 2 applicants have transitional language-course arrangements.

How do you say "Please" in Maltese?

Jekk jogħġbok. “Jekk jogħġbok” makes a request polite. “Grazzi” thanks someone after they help.

A neighbour describes a custom differently from your study notes. What is a sensible response?

Ask about their experience and distinguish it from a claim about everyone in Malta. One person’s experience cannot describe every household. Asking and listening helps you learn without making assumptions about everyone.

How do you say "I don't understand" in Maltese?

Ma nifhimx. “Ma nifhimx” says you do not understand. “Ma nafx” says you do not know, which is a different problem.

You can recall a historical date but cannot explain its significance. What should you do next?

Read the relevant explanation, then describe what changed without looking. Knowing that Malta joined the EU in 2004 explains a political change. The euro came later, in 2008.

What is the role of the President of Malta?

Largely ceremonial head of state. The President represents Malta as head of state. The Prime Minister leads the government, so the roles are different.

You are revising Malta’s EU timeline. Which explanation keeps the events separate?

Malta joined the EU in 2004 and adopted the euro in 2008. Explaining EU membership in 2004 and euro adoption in 2008 shows that you understand two different events.

Someone needs emergency help in Malta. Which number should you call?

112. 112 connects people to emergency help. Freephone 153 is for government-service enquiries, not emergency response.

You have no signed employment contract. Which statement is correct?

A verbal agreement can still be valid. A verbal employment agreement can be enforceable. The employer must provide a signed statement where there is no written contract.

Which phrase tells someone that you need a doctor?

Għandi bżonn tabib. “Tabib” means doctor. “Għandi bżonn” expresses a need, so this phrase asks for medical help.

Preparation scope and sources

The Directorate also provides transitional arrangements for Stage 2 applications received before that date, including an opportunity to take MQF Level 2 Maltese.
